Challenge Accepted: Verus Upgrades Popular Wing Components

The idea for new carbon fiber endplates arose when working on a project for driver Kyle McKiou.

The new KMX VIX carbon fiber endplate builds on the success of the original version. The project came about as Verus was doing custom work for race driver and GR Supra enthusiast Kyle McKiou. The 2024 GRIDLIFE Track Mod champion (and Street Mod runner-up) needed a new splitter and turned to the pros at Verus. In the process, McKiou mentioned a desire for enhanced Supra rear wing endplates. Verus took the initiative, and in typical Verus fashion, the team not only improved the look of the endplates but also boosted performance.

Meet The New And Improved V1X Rear Wing Endplates

Verus Engineering's new KMX endplates for the V1X wing give you style and performance.

Since the V1X wing is designed for road course and track applications, Verus wanted the new endplates to be impressive in both form and function. They succeeded. Through a larger, reshaped design with enhanced venting on top, the KMX endplates offer a 5% decrease in drag and 1% downforce boost when compared to the originals. The comparison was made in free-stream air flow with swan neck uprights at a 10-degree angle of attack.

Overall, Verus improved the wings’ efficiency (also known as Lift Over Drag or L/D) by 0.6%. Improvements were due to reducing vortices produced by the endplate and wing, and shedding some of the high-pressure air from the top of the wing.
