Verus Engineering’s venture into BMW performance is making waves not just in the U.S., but across the pond. Using Verus aerodynamics, a Switzerland-based shop focused on BMW track conversions set a new track record at the famed Lausitzring tri-oval in Germany.
The BMW M2 built by Trackparts GmbH posted a lap time of 1:29.39 during testing by AUTO BILD Sportscars, a well-known German publication dedicated to sports car enthusiasts and high-performance tuning. It marked the fastest time AUTO BILD has ever recorded at Lausitzring for a BMW.
“Our goal was very clear,” Trackparts owner Daniel von Ah said. “We wanted to build the fastest BMW.”
To do so, they turned to Verus. Trackparts incorporated the Verus UCW swan neck rear wing, front splitter kit with endplates, and dive planes. In the article published by AUTO BILD, test driver Guido Naumann noted, “Trackparts manages to fuse extreme straight line speed and cornering dynamics to perfection.”

The BMW M2 was one of five cars AUTO BILD tested at Lausitzring. Others included a Toyota GR Yaris, Toyota GR86, Audi RS 3, and a VW Golf GTI. Here are the top lap times (with top speeds):
BMW M2: 1:29.39 (152.795 mph); BMW record
Audi RS 3: 1:32.43 (145.525 mph)
GR Yaris: 1:36.01 (130.860 mph)
VW Golf GTI: 1:37.96 (132.849 mph)
Toyota GR86: 1:39.13 (126.884 mph)
Von Ah said the time was expected after extensive testing at their home racetrack, Anneau du Rhin, in Biltzheim, France. Trackparts did their homework, and it paid off.

“What they built is a genuinely competitive M2, and what makes it interesting is the restraint,” Verus owner Eric Hazen said. “This isn't a car that wins on big-budget horsepower; it's a well-sorted, well-set-up machine that goes toe-to-toe with cars that cost significantly more. It's a good demonstration of what a thoughtful aero package does when the rest of the car is properly dialed in.”
Risk of Taking on a New Platform Pays Off for Verus

Verus aero, including the UCW rear wing, helped the Trackparts BMW M2 to a record-setting lap time.
Even for a celebrated performance parts manufacturer like Verus Engineering, taking on a new platform is fraught with risk. How will the parts be received by a discerning community? For Hazen and the entire team at Verus, seeing their performance parts being used across the world is a feather in the cap.

“It’s validating in a way that’s hard to describe,” Hazen said. “When we started, we were solving problems for cars we had access to, in a market we understood. The idea that someone on the other side of the world would find us, trust our engineering, and put our parts on their car, that wasn't something I mapped out. It tells you the work is resonating beyond the community we originally built it for. It's pretty cool.”
